Control Technologies operates through two complementary sides of the business.
The first is technology distribution and ecommerce, giving UK customers local access to Owasys hardware, backed by product knowledge and technical support.
The second is engineering consultancy.
Control Technologies’ team works directly with customers across control systems, CAN communication, embedded electronics, software development, connectivity and system integration.
Bringing those two capabilities together means their involvement doesn’t have to end when the hardware is supplied.
For customers with their own development resources, they can help identify and supply the appropriate owa Unit.
For customers requiring additional support, their engineers can become involved in the application itself – from initial system architecture and CAN integration through to software, connectivity, testing and deployment.
One platform, very different applications
One of Owasys’s key differentiators is the exceptional flexibility of its open, Linux-based platforms.
Rather than being restricted to one predefined telematics application, the technology provides a foundation that can be engineered around the requirements of the individual project.
In one application, an owa Unit can sit onboard a vehicle or mobile machine, capturing CAN data and enabling remote monitoring, diagnostics and fleet telematics.
Data can be processed locally at the edge before relevant information is communicated onwards, giving developers control over what happens on the device and what needs to be sent elsewhere.
In another application, the same type of technology might never leave the factory.
An owa Unit can sit within a production environment, automatically capturing end-of-line test data, processing it locally and creating traceable production records – all without operator intervention.
Other applications can include sensor integration, cloud connectivity, remote diagnostics, OTA updates, data logging and wider connected-machine systems.
The common element isn’t necessarily the application. It’s the ability to take data from a machine or system, process it locally and then put that data to useful work.
